HUBUNGAN POLA MAKAN DAN AKTIVITAS FISIK DENGAN KEJADIAN GOUT ARTHRITIS PADA LANSIA DI PUSKESMAS BIROMARU
Abstract
Gout arthritis is a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated uric acid levels in the blood due to purine metabolism disturbances that lead to the formation of monosodium urate crystals in the joints. A high-purine diet and low physical activity are known to increase the risk of gout arthritis, particularly among the elderly. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between dietary patterns and physical activity with the incidence of gout arthritis among the elderly in the working area of the Biromaru Community Health Center. This study used a quantitative method with an analytic survey design and a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 33 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using dietary pattern questionnaires, physical activity instruments, and uric acid level examinations. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed a significant relationship between dietary patterns and the incidence of gout arthritis (p = 0.000) and between physical activity and the incidence of gout arthritis (p = 0.000). In conclusion, dietary patterns and physical activity are significantly associated with the incidence of gout arthritis among the elderly. Healthy dietary management and regular physical activity are necessary as preventive and control efforts for gout arthritis among the elderly.
