Publication Ethics
MARKETIKA: Indonesian Journal of Retail Management follows the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics in all aspects of publication ethics, particularly regarding research protocols and publication misconduct. The journal adheres to COPE standards to ensure high ethical standards for authors, editors, and reviewers. Authors
Authors
- Authors must confirm that the submitted work has not been previously published and has not been submitted to any other party for publication.
- Authors must ensure the originality of their work and properly cite the work of others in accordance with the approved reference format.
- Authors must not engage in plagiarism or self-plagiarism.
- Authors should not generally publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
- Authors must make all data and details of their research available to the editor if there is any suspicion of data fabrication or falsification.
- Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, such as employment relationships, research funding, consultancy fees, or intellectual property interests.
- If authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they are obligated to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
Editors
- Editors are responsible for every article published in MARKETIKA: Indonesian Journal of Retail Management.
- Editors should assist authors, where possible, in ensuring that their manuscripts comply with the journal’s guidelines.
- Editors may consult with other editors or reviewers when making the final decision regarding publication.
- Editors must evaluate manuscripts objectively for publication, assessing each solely on its academic merit without discrimination based on nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, religion, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation of the authors.
- Editors must decline to handle manuscripts in which there is a potential conflict of interest.
- Editors must ensure that manuscripts sent to reviewers do not contain identifying information about the authors, and vice versa.
- The editor’s final decision must be communicated to the authors in a timely manner and should include reviewers’ comments, unless those comments contain offensive or defamatory language.
- If authors present reasonable objections to a particular reviewer evaluating their work, the editor should respect this request where appropriate.
- Editors and all editorial staff must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
- Editors will follow the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics in cases of suspected misconduct or disputed ethical issues.
Reviewer
- Reviewers are expected to comment on any suspected issues related to research integrity, ethics, or publication misconduct.
- Reviews must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author(s) is inappropriate. Reviewers should clearly express their views and support them with appropriate arguments.
- Reviewers should complete their evaluations in a timely manner and promptly inform the editor if they are unable to complete the review.
- Reviewers must respect the confidentiality of the manuscript.
- Reviewers should not accept a manuscript for review if they believe there is a potential conflict of interest between themselves and any of the authors.
- Reviewers should inform the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and other published work of which they are personally aware.
- Any privileged information or ideas obtained through the peer-review process must be kept confidential and must not be used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, institutions, or organizations associated with the paper.
