HUBUNGAN PERAN ORANG TUA DALAM MEMANDIRIKAN ANAK RETARDASI MENTAL SEDANG DI SEKOLAH LUAR BIASA TADULAKO MANDIRI

Abstract

Mental retardation is a condition in which a person has obstacles or disabilities in the brain or mindset, it could cause delays in increasing creativity and cannot process the information that is conveyed. The aim of the research was to analyze the role of parents on the independence level of children with moderate mental retardation. This is quantitative research with an analytic design method with a cross-sectional approach. The total population was 30 people, and the total sample was 30 taken by using the total sampling technique. Data analysis using the Spearmen rank correlation test, with the independent variable being the role of the parent and the dependent variable being the independence of moderate mental retardation children. The results of the bivariate analysis found a correlation between the role of parents and the independence of mental retardation children in SLB of Tadulako Mandiri with a p-value = 0.017 <0.05. The conclusion of the research mentioned that there is a correlation between the role of parents and the independence of mental retardation children in SLB of Tadulako Mandiri.
